memory of transience

Royal tombs Gyeongju - South Corea

Exploring the intersection of history, nature, and culture by examining the ancient tombs of the rulers of the Silla Kingdom in Gyeongju, South Korea.
The wave-like contours of the ancient burial mounds evoke a sense of fluidity, connecting the earth to the sea, life to death, and past to present. Dried fish, positioned alongside the tomb images, contrast the organic decay and preservation of life, serving as a visual metaphor for cultural memory and natural cycles.
The work creates a dialogue between the past and present, nature and human history.
